12 & Under Assistant Coach

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Swim Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in swimming and coaching, with the ability to inspire and motivate students 12yrs and under. This role assists the Division Director in developing 12 & under athletes to make an uncompromised commitment to the pursuit of excellence, through the process of striving to be the best that they can be, to acquire life enhancing attributes such as integrity, discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Embrace and advocate the Mission Viejo Nadadores Culture

  • Passion for coaching and working with age group athletes

  • Comprehension of stroke development and technique fundamentals

  • Basic understanding of dryland training for developmental athletes

  • Plan, prepare, and conduct group practices in accordance with our curriculum for the Nadadores.

  • Keep records and reports as directed by the Division Director

  • Assist with set up & tear down of all MVN hosted age group/senior level meets

  • Assist with MVN Staff in facilitating Events (MVN hosted or community events)

  • Commit to continued coaching education

  • On Job Time Requirements: Attend all assigned staff meetings, Attend the assigned meets for the practice group, Entries for the assigned practice group are complete and correct, Arrival at practice and meets at minimum 15 min prior to arrival of athletes, Will require afternoon, evening and weekend hours

  • Communication: Communicate all actions regularly between Primary Coach, Director and Head Coach, Excellent email communication to parents with timely response (within 24 hrs), Continually assess goals with athletes and communicate to parents in a patient and respectable manner

  • Professionalism: Model proper dress, language, demeanor and sportsmanship for the athletes, Create an educational, safe and inviting experience for all participants, Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Certificates required: CPR/AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, APT, Background check and in good standing with USA Swimming and ASCA Level 2

  • Abides by applicable USA Swimming Codes of Conduct and Safe Sport Requirements

  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite, Team Unify and/or Team Manager

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

Swim School Instructor

SUMMARY: We are looking for enthusiastic instructors to works with children of all ages to develop proper swimming technique and skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaches swimming strokes and water safety rules from beginner to advanced with the ability to assess progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly

  • Identifies incorrect swimming technique and provides corrective feedback

  • Exhibit patience and enthusiasm with swimmers while providing ground rules for class

  • Motivate students to accomplish goals of class

  • Communicate effectively with students to ensure all water safety rules are adhered to

  • Monitors students to prevent accidents and injuries

  • Works with team to keep deck and pool clean

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16+ years old

  • Prior swim lessons/swimming experience preferred, but not required

  • Passion for working with children of all ages

  • CPR/water safety training certified preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour

Are you a high school or college student who loves the water, enjoys working with kids, and is looking for a fun, flexible part-time job this fall? The Mission Viejo Nadadores are looking for energetic, positive Swim Coaches to help lead our seasonal fall swim program at off-site locations.

This is the perfect role for students with afternoon/evening availability who want to stay active, gain leadership experience, and make an impact in their community.

No prior coaching experience? No problem! We value enthusiasm and a love for the sport just as much. Paid training offered.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Part-time, ~10 hours per week

  • Time: Afternoons and evenings (perfect after-school job!)

  • Season: Fall-only

  • Location: Satellite pool locations (we bring the fun to the neighborhood!)

What You’ll Do:

  • Run fun and focused swim practices created by our Lead Coaches.

  • Work in the water with swimmers—from beginners to more advanced levels.

  • Teach and correct swim strokes while keeping sessions upbeat and encouraging.

  • Promote water safety and maintain a safe, clean environment.

  • Assist with setup and takedown at satellite swim meets.

  • Communicate clearly and kindly with young swimmers and parents.

  • Be a positive role model and motivator for your team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school or college student who enjoys working with kids.

  • Strong swimmer, comfortable leading groups and giving feedback.

  • Responsible, enthusiastic, and ready to have fun while teaching.

  • Prior swim team, lifeguard, or coaching experience is a bonus—but not required!
