OUR MISSION
Providing an inclusive, diverse, safe environment for athletes to develop to their highest competitive success while learning life skills through professionally organized programming and events and providing opportunities to become active community leaders.
HOW IT STARTED
At the time the Mission Viejo Nadadores originated in 1968, it had 25 swimmers training at the Montanoso Recreation Center. In 1969 the team applied for membership in the AAU and grew to 97 swimmers. As they continued to gain recognition, the team grew to 120 swim members by 1970. In 1972, the Mission Viejo Company embarked on the construction of what is now known as the Marguerite Aquatics Complex. This facility features an Olympic-sized pool and a warm-up pool, designed to accommodate the anticipated growth and success of the organization. Additionally, the new complex included diving boards, which led to the creation of the Nadadores dive program shortly thereafter.
By 1973, the Nadadores Swim Division became a senior and national competitive program under the supervision of Head Coach Mark Schubert. With Coach Schubert’s watchful eye, and later on, Coach Bill Rose, the Nadadores went on to place athletes at every Olympic Games since 1976.
In 1978, Dr. Ron O’Brien took the helm as head dive coach of the Mission Viejo Nadadores, rapidly transforming it into the premier diving team in the United States. Under his leadership, the team achieved remarkable success and established a legacy in the sport.
The Nadadores continue to place athletes on the National and Junior National Team, while also helping them secure spots at esteemed universities. They’ve been a constant member of USA Swimming’s Gold Medal Club and are an affiliate of USA Diving.
Throughout the years, the team has hosted prestigious competitions consisting of international and national Olympic and elite-level athletes, such as the Los Angeles Invitational, Swim Meet of Champions, USMS National Championships, TYR Pro Swim Series, USA Diving Junior National Championships, Chris Vonk Diving Invitational, TYR Junior America’s Cup, and the Dr. Ron O’Brien Diving Invitational.
The Marguerite Aquatics Complex underwent a major renovation in 2018 that made it a state-of-the-art aquatics facility that will assist the Nadadores in continuing their Olympic tradition of excellence.

HOW IT’S GOING
Today, the Nadadores is comprised of over 800 members distributed throughout 18 different training groups at multiple locations.
Over the years, the Nadadores swim division has earned more than 47 National Team Titles, produced 151 National Individual Champions, set 95 American Records and 26 World Records, and produced 106 Olympians who won 113 Olympic Medals.
The Nadadores dive division has earned 51 National Team Titles, produced 198 National Individual Champions, and 19 Olympians who won 11 Olympic Medals.
